The general intent of hacking is to extract the required info (password,maybe).
It is done in two main ways,
1. Taking chance of your vulnerability .
2. Taking chance of machine's vulnerability.
Hackers can either bamboozle you to reveal your password or find a weak point in the server where your password is kept.
