BdMO National 2021 Junior Problem 1

Unread post by Anindya Biswas » Mon Apr 12, 2021 11:30 am

Mita wrote $2024$ positive integers in a row such that the product of any four adjacent number is $2100$. The first number is $7$, the $1011$th number is $5$, the $2014$th number is $20$. What is the last number in the row?

Mita wrote $2024$ positive integers in a row such that the product of any four adjacent numbers is $2100$. The first number is $7$, the $1011$th number is $5$, the $2014$th number is $20$. What is the last number in the row?
Let's number the $i$'th integers as $a_i$ like so:
$a_1, a_2, \dots, a_{2024}$
We know,
$\frac{a_{i}\cdot a_{i+1}\cdot a_{i+2}\cdot a_{i+3}}{a_{i+1}\cdot a_{i+2}\cdot a _{i+3}\cdot a_{i+4}}=\frac{2100}{2100}$
$\Longrightarrow \frac{a_i}{a_{i+4}}=1$
$\Longrightarrow a_i=a_{i+4}$
which means if $i \equiv j ($mod $4)$ then $a_i = a_j$

Thus,
$a_{1011}=a_3=5$
$a_{2014}=a_2=20$
also, $a_1=7$

Again,
$a_{1}\cdot a_{2}\cdot a_{3}\cdot a_{4}=2100$
$\Longrightarrow 7\cdot 20\cdot 5\cdot a_{4}=2100$
$\Longrightarrow a_{4}=3$

And so, $ a_{2024}=a_{4}=\boxed{3}$
