এককালে, একটা দূরের গ্রামে $42$ জন মানুষ বাস করতো। তাদের প্রত্যেকেই হয় সবসময় সত্যি বলতো অথবা সব সময় মিথ্যা বলতো। একদিন এক আগন্তুক তাদের প্রত্যেককে জিজ্ঞেস করলো, "তোমাদের মধ্যে কতজন মিথ্যাবাদী?" তারা কেউই সরাসরি উত্তর দিলো না।কিন্তু তাদের $26$ জন বলল যে মিথ্যাবাদীর সংখ্যা বিজোড় আর বাকি $16$ জন বলল মিথ্যাবাদীর সংখ্যা জোড়। তাদের মধ্যে কতজন মিথ্যাবাদী?

Once upon a time, in a far-away village, there were $42$ villagers. Each of them either always told the truth or always lied. Being fascinated, a stranger once asked each of them, "How many of you are liars?" None of them gave a direct answer. But $26$ out of them replied that the number of liars is odd and other $16$ told that it was even. How many of them were lying?
