My first posted problem.
The numbers 1,2,......,50 are written in a blackboard. Each minute any two numbers are erased and their positive difference is written instead. At the end one number remains.which?
Re: My first posted problem.
$Answer$

Re: My first posted problem.
I think the answer isn't unique (probably!!).Because, doing the same thing over a small set of numbers(say 1,2,3,..6)
doesn't give an unique answer.
doesn't give an unique answer.
An amount of certain opposition is a great help to a man.Kites rise against, not with, the wind.
Re: My first posted problem.
Actually,I think you are right. It seems to me that we can't get an unique number. But it can be proved that at the end an odd number will remain. Let $S=1+2+3+...+25=325$. Here $S\equiv 1 (mod 2)$. But if you erase $a,b$, then in each step $S$ will be reduced by $2min(a,b)$, which is an even number. So during the whole reduction process you will have $S\equiv 1(mod 2)$. Initially the parity is odd. So it will be odd too at the end.sakibtanvir wrote:I think the answer isn't unique (probably!!).Because, doing the same thing over a small set of numbers(say 1,2,3,..6)

তাইলে এত নিশ্চিত ক্যামনে হইলা?SANZEED wrote:Actually, you are right.

Sorry, I eliminated "I think" while typing. And what more, I have just checked it thrice and got $7$ once. I have also rechecked all the steps of this case. তাইলে এত নিশ্চিত ক্যামনে হইলা?SANZEED wrote:Actually, you are right. Re: My first posted problem.
