If $A=\{a,b,c\}$ and $B=\{1,2,3,4\}$ then from set $A$ to set $B$ , how many different functions can be formed?

Please don't start a new topic in divisional olympiad forum. I am moving this to secondary level.

The problem can be rephrased as "How many three digit numbers can be formed using the digits from set $B$?" The answer is $4^3$.
