Re: More preferable Fuel
$CH_{4}$
because, that emits less carbon.
Though, $C_{4}H_{10}$ can give us more power, it will also give us harmful waste. which is both wastage of power and threatening to the environment.

\[\sum_{k=0}^{n-1}e^{\frac{2 \pi i k}{n}}=0\]
Using $L^AT_EX$ and following the rules of the forum are very easy but really important, too. Please co-operate.

But $C_4H_{10}$ is easier to compress than $CH_4$ because of its liquid state. That is why it is used in households.nafistiham wrote:$CH_{4}$

As far as I knew, $CH_4$(Methane) is used in households as stove-gas, not $C_4H_{10}$(Butane).Tahmid Hasan wrote:But $C_4H_{10}$ is easier to compress than $CH_4$ because of its liquid state. That is why it is used in households.

Methane is the general gas supplied by gas lines, and butane is the cylinderized LP gas used wherever gas line is not available.sowmitra wrote:As far as I knew, $CH_4$(Methane) is used in households as stove-gas, not $C_4H_{10}$(Butane).

Re: More preferable Fuel
About the 94-98% of the natural gas in Bangladesh is methane. So, it is quite understood why we have methane supplied through the gas transmission lines. But the gas we use in households, called the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), is mainly propane, butane, or a combination of them.
But why propane or butane then, rather than methane?
1. Propane and butane are among the leftovers in the other 2-6% of our natural gas. If we do not use them, they are mere wastage, which was the case a decade ago.
2. Propane and butane can be liquefied only at a tiny fraction of the pressure needed to liquefy methane. This makes propane or butane especially handy to store and transport in cylinders before it is used again as a gas in the ambient temperature. For example, 270 units volume of gaseous propane turns into just 1 unit volume of liquid propane!
From calorific and combustion point of view, however, methane releases more energy per kg than propane or butane. And methane generates less amount of carbon dioxide.
