magnets

Unread post by farhan » Wed May 30, 2012 8:55 pm

A rather funny question is bothering me---- IF TWO OPPOSITE POLES OF TWO MAGNETS ARE PUT NEARER THEY WILL ATTRACT ONE ANOTHER , AND IF SOMETHING IN THE MIDDLE JUST SEPERATE THEM ,THE POLES WILL CREATE A MAGNETIC PRESSURE ON THAT.TO CREATE THIS PRESSURE SOME ENERGY WILL BE CONSUMED NATURALLY . BUT IF THEY R PUT IN THIS MANNER FOR A LONG PERIOD, WILL THOSE MAGNETS WILL LOOSE THEIR ENTIRE ENERGY AND WILL NOT REMAIN MAGNETS ANY MORE?

No, magnetism is not dependen on the energy of the magnet. It depends on how the electrons are arranged.

Also, creating pressure does not neceassarily mean loss of energy. To loose energy the pressure has to do some work. How the energy is lost depends on the work is done.

Magnets don't remain magnets only if the electron arrangement is disrupted somehow.

Using $L^AT_EX$ and following the rules of the forum are very easy but really important, too. Please co-operate.
